What A Gift God Blessed Me With and My Family

Phionah is one of our many sponsored children here at Mercy Child Care Ministry, along with her brother and sister. She has been a part of the Mercy Family since 2006, and we are so thankful for that. We are so incredibly proud of her and her siblings, and all of their hard work that they are putting into school. Phionah recently wrote her journey of being a part of MCCM, and she decided to share it with us.

“I was indeed gifted by God with the gift of Mercy Child Care Ministry led by Pastor Wilson Bugembe, as the president and other five more members on the board plus the staff.  I was around four to five years when I joined Mercy Child Care Ministry by the help of Mrs. Vena Rugumba who is one of our family members, the wife to Wilfred Rugumba, one of the board members, and my daddy was her uncle.

So, when she came at our home in Masaka to see us with our parents, she was happy to see her uncle’s children grown up and she decided to help our daddy with the last two children and she said she was going to help in paying our school fees.

My daddy was happy for the blessings God had given to us. So, me and my brother, Richard were still young and didn’t know anything about this so we just followed.

When we came to Kampala where MCCM was located by then, we found some more children there and they told us to take them as our sisters and brothers. I was really so grateful for this great opportunity that had come to our family.

We went to school and we were so happy where we attended, Happy Hours one of the best schools in Uganda and where Mr. Rugumba studied from, Wakiso Junior, Wakiso Christian International and also Zion schools where me and my brother completed from our primary level. My brother sat for the PLE in 2013 and managed to get 7agg and I saw for my PLE in 2015 and managed to get 9agg which was not a bad aggregate because it was a first grade.

My brother joined Mengo Senior Secondary School for his O’Level and he is now sitting for his UCE this year at Mengo S.S and he will excel. I also joined Kajjansi Progressive for my O’Level whereby I am going to Senior Three next year.

In 2014, my sister Justine also joined Mercy Child Care Ministry and she continued with her education because she had attained her primary level from the village and part of her secondary. So, they took her to Happy Hours because it was both primary and secondary, where she completed her O’Level from. The she was taken to Kajjansi Progressive for her A’Level and now she is going to senior six next year.

I really want to thank God for the life of Mr. and Mrs. Rugumba who have accepted us and their own children. I also want to thank God for this organisation because it has helped my family very much. For the LORD knew us even before we were put in our mother’s womb and He had great plans for us just as Jeremiah 29:11 says. I also thank God for the gift of salvation in my family.

I pray to God to keep MCCM progressing and the children in MCCM to achieve their goals and to always remain thankful to God who gives life in abundance and keeps us safe and sound because some of these children don’t know where they came from and where they are going.

May God Always Bless You— “Am Keeping Children Safe, What About You?”

God is always at work in people’s lives, and Phionah’s testimony is evidence of that. It encourages us so much when our children share these notes with us and share what God is doing in their lives. To God be the glory!!
